Helmut Wechselbergers bike Bottecchia Malvor team 1987-88
Columbus SLX
Group: Mavic SSC, Modolo
size: 56x57
I found this bike in Staranzano-Italy. Last owner told me that this bike was ridden by a professional rider from Austria and he found it in Trieste-Italy. After this find I became a really good friend of the last owner and since than together we are researching every bike frame we find. After a good clean I found on the bottom bracket box engraved Wechse. Also I found the name Helmut Wechselberger . Professional rider in Malvor team Bottecchia during the 80'. He won Tour de Suiss in 1988. The bike is as I found it and all parts have script MAVIC 87 and engraved MAVIC 88. Now I'm searching to find contact with his first rider.

Hello, Great website and wonderful work you have accomplished. Last week I bought a similar Botteccehia 1987 frame from Ebay Germany. It was a bit expensive
but in very good condition without road wear. I need to equip it now and saw your finished Botteccehia. I have read about the Mavic/Malvor bikes and just wondered if your Botteccehia build up was personal favorites or trying to go original. The Mavic equipment is rare and are to find. Hi, thank you for asking. Both Bundi’s and Wechselberger’s Bottecchia bikes were built originally like on photos. I found them with Simplex and Mavic SSC groups with Modolo brakes. But, I know that in Malvor team used on their bikes Campagnolo Super Record groups. After 1985 was Campagnolo C-Record group too.
